Western volleyball picks up 3-1 win over Mustangs

Monticello rallied back to give Western Albemarle a challenge in game three, but in the end, the Warriors continued their unbeaten run through Jefferson District play with a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs.

Western won with scores of 25-16, 25-8, 18-25 and 25-14.

Sarah Harper led the way with 13 kills and a trio of aces while Ana Asher had eight kills and two blocks in a big night for the junior. Amanda Gough posted five kills and two blocks of her own.

The Warriors’ balanced setting tandem of Megan Adams and Riley Martin combined for 27 assists. Adams had 16 while Martin came up with 11.

Western Albemarle (9-0, 5-0 JD) heads to William Monroe while Monticello battles with Charlottesville on Thursday.
